Object Name Postcard
Scope & Content Postcard: "Hunger, Madness, Crime" Appears to have been torn from binding on left side.
Reproduction of the painting "La Faim, la folie et le crime" by Antoine Wiertz (1857). Image of a woman depicted as insane with a baby, and child's leg in cooking pot over fire place.
On right front is markers mark "NELS" and written in three languages:
"Faim, Folle, Crime.
Hunger, Madness, Crime.
Honger, Waanzin, Misdaad."
Written in pencil, "Most horrible!"
and "Musee Wiertz, Bruxelles" printed on side. [Museum Wiertz, Brussels]
On divided unused back, "Ern. Thill, Bruxelles."
